Leave the rat race behind with "Ridin' Back to Yesterday" or get lost in an Autry movie with "I Want to Live Out West." Gaze into the crimson glow of a campfire after a hard day on the trail with "Prairie Nights." It's nice to know there is new Western music still being written." says The Lone Prairie Rider.
The Old West Trio is a western music group composed of Steve Ide (rhythm guitar), Steve Johnson (lead guitar), and Leslie Ide (upright bass). They are members of the Western Music Association and co-founders of Scofield's Cowboy Campfire at the Red Mule Ranch. Expect to hear some amazing cowboy songs. Meet IT's "Run for Your Wife" Cast
Grant Stellflug (John Smith) - A veteran IT! performer and long time Placerville resident, Grant’s most recent involvement was Assistant Director for Camelot. Prior to that he has been seen on stage as The Dentist in Little Shop of Horrors, Owen in The Foreigner, and Vince Fontaine in Grease. Grants upcoming projects include directing Deathtrap, later in IT!’s 2013 season. He is very excited to be a part of such a wonderful cast and crew who have put in many hours of hard work bringing this play to life.
Jody Wills (Mary Smith) - Jody is thrilled to be performing again at IT. She was last seen at IT! as Mammy Yokum in Li'l Abner. She is excited to be working again with Lanny Langston who also directed her in Lil’ Abner. She has performed locally for over 30 years and has many roles under her belt; her favorite shows include A Few Good Men (Lt. Ross), Quilters (Ensemble), Li'l Abner (Mammy Yokum), A Couple of White Chicks Sitting Around Talking (Maude), Cabaret (Freulein Kost) and The Odd Couple (Gwendolyn Pigeon). When she's not on the stage, Jody works as an administrative assistant for a nationwide association, hikes tall mountains and is Nana to five grandchildren (with one more on the way). Jody thanks IT! for welcoming her back and a HUGE thank you to her family and friends for all their love and support.
Kathleen Mini (Barbara Smith) - Kathleen followed in her daughter’s footsteps to their first audition together for the Imagination Theater Musical, Lil’ Abner. Since that time, she has gone on to perform in several other IT productions. She was Glinda in the Wizard of Oz, Babette in Beauty and the the Beast, Mrs Van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank, and Mrs. Banks in Father of the Bride. Most recently Kathleen was challenged by “attempting” to tap dance in White Christmas. She looks forward to performing as Barbara Smith in Run for your Wife.
Chris Celestin (Stanley Gardener) - Chris, age 19, has been involved in theater for the last 5 years. He is happy to be returning to the IT! stage after playing Dickon in The Secret Garden. Some of his favorite roles include Lancelot (IT’s Camelot), and his hangwon debut a s Eddie Marinara in the Carsino Show! When Chris is not on stage he enjoys pretending he is on stage, dancing wherever he sees fit. He also enjoys pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. Chris would like to thank his parents for their undying support and encouragement.
Marc Bonham (Detective Sgt. Troughton) - Marc has been performing for local audiences off and on for the past eight years. This includes choir, drama, marching band, glee club in high school and college. Marc’s love for community theater started later in life after his first IT! performance in 2005. He performed in Lil’ Abner and most recently, The Secret Garden. Marc would like to thank his wife and children for their love and support of his hobby.
Sean Conley-Widing (Detective Sgt. Porterhouse) - Sean has been interested in theater for a long time and helped with lights and set construction in Sacramento. While assisting with an IT!’s fundraiser, he was approached to play a knight in Camelot . Sean joined the chorus, had a few lines, and even a small solo during “Fie on Goodness.” He continued to assist IT! with light and sound and auditioned for Run for Your Wife, This is his first time on stage as part of an ensemble cast and he looks forward to having a good time bringing laughter to the audience.
Richard “Rick” Gaylord (Bobby Franklin) - A telecommunications technician by trade, Rick has performed leading roles in more than ten of 45+ plays since 1980. Rick’s favorite role was Charlie in Theatre El Dorado’s The Foreigner (1997) and more recent roles Froggy in IT’s The Foreigner (2010), Greater Tuna, Godspell, Big River, Music Man, and A Christmas Carol. Rick is proud to be the first recipient of IT’s Rodney Roberts Theater Achievement Award.
Gordon Prow (Newspaper Photographer/Stage Manager) - Gordon is very excited about stage managing this fun farce. He last stage managed IT”s 2010 production of Bram Stoker’s Dracula along with his wife, Sandra. His first stage appearance at Imagination Theater was playing the Nazi general in The Sound of Music. Gordon hopes that you enjoy this show. He thanks his friends and family in supporting his endeavors at Imagination Theater.

The Audience Speaks! Run for Your Wife, a FUN farce not to be missed!
![]() |
| "How Dare You. . ." says Stanley Gardner (Chris Celestin) |
Carolyn and I enjoyed many plays at the old Stage Door Theater Comedy Playhouse near Arden Fair years ago – Laura Darzell (owner) is still a dear friend we visit occasionally. We saw Run For Your Wife there several times in the 80’s .. Dave Williams (KCRA) played John in those daze …. And we have always placed it as one of the funniest, most complicated, creative, confusing, dysfunctional plays we’ve enjoyed.
Your version is excellent … fun … very delightfully presented … excellent stage set …. precise directing … and actors …. You each did super !!!!! Physical and verbal timing was great …. We’d forgotten some of the details so it was really fun being “surprised” by a twist or two or three (We are getting older). Our friends left laughing … sharing the surprises … and want to come back for more …. And we happily revisited many of the twists on our drive back down the hill.
Thanks for everyone’s hard work …. We know it takes more than the folks on stage to deliver a high quality production.
Thanks again … keep laughing and having fun with this one !!!
Cordially
John & Carolyn W.

A Few More Comments about the Les Miserables Auditions
Or, Remember that this show is really an opera so singing is what really counts!
As you select your audition song, here some things to keep in mind…
1. Select a song for your audition that you are very comfortable with and can sing well. The audition panel will primarily be evaluating your singing based on your ability to stay on pitch, your accuracy with the melody, and your ability to project.
2. Since Les Miserables is a sing-through type of show that depends mostly on accurate singing to be a success, your characterization and movement as part of your Les Miserables audition singing is less important than when auditioning for other musicals. In other words, during the Les Miserables auditions, the singing is most important. Don’t spend a lot of energy on characterization and movement as you prepare your audition song. Avoid the trap of attempting to “copy” any performance or characterization you may have already heard or seen. The audition panel will mostly be looking for you to simply sing well and confidently.
3. Even if you want to be considered for more than one of the lead roles you only need to prepare one song from the show. The panel will be able to listen to you sing one song sung by a particular character and determine if you are suitable for other roles as well.
4. We are producing our own show based only upon the script and music we have been provided. Auditioners, and those ultimately cast in show, need to remember that we do not need to spend a lot of energy comparing the various anniversary performances, student productions, original cast albums, karaoke versions of the show, etc. with each other. Of all of these productions, there is not a particular one that is “the right one.” There are only versions that someone may be more familiar with than others. Our production will result from our collective talents and artistic sensibilities, the skills of our orchestra and performers, and the abilities and dedication of our entire creative team.
Enjoy dreaming the dream!

First, she'll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she's the girl with the enchanting voice. Adapted from Disney's 2008 Broadway production, Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr. features the hit songs "Part of Your World," "She's in Love," and the Oscar-winning "Under the Sea."

BOOK OF MORMON Auditions coming to Sacramento
I am writing to let you know that THE BOOK OF MORMON will be coming to
Sacramento to hold auditions February 8th and 9th by appointment only.
We are looking to build our files for future replacements for all
three companies (Broadway, 1st National Tour, Jumamosi Tour) for the
roles of ARNOLD CUNNINGHAM, KEVIN PRICE, NABALUGI and ELDER MCKINLEY

fantastic musical and comedy talent, and even though we have some

missing anyone, and felt that it is important to reach out to the
local theatres, universities and improv groups to make sure no one is
robbed of the opportunity to submit themselves for consideration. We
appreciate you passing this on to anyone you feel might be right. Or
if you have an email list, doing a blast to make actors aware.
Anyone interested in auditioning for any or all of these companies
should submit a picture and resume and any additional materials to
jrichcasting@gmail.com by 5PM Thursday, February 7th 2013. Please
make sure you put the City Name of the audition in the subject line.

Run for Your Wife opens February 15
If you are looking for something to do from February 15th to March 3rd and want to have a good laugh come and see Imagination Theater's current production of the hilarious comedy RUN FOR YOUR WIFE, written by Ray Cooney. This play is a superb example of British farce and will having you laughing all the way home. The play is about a taxi driver who gets away with having two wives in different areas of London because of his irregular working schedule. Complication is piled upon complication as the cabby tries to keep his double life from exploding. Some of your favorite veteran actors are in the delightful play; Richard Gaylord as Bobby Franklin, the over friendly upstairs neighbor, Grant Stellflug as John Smith the cabby with two wives, Kathleen Mini as Barbara Smith as a wife of John Smith and Jody Wills as another wife of John Smith. Rounding out the cast is Chris Celestin as Stanley Gardner a good friend of Johns who gets caught up in all the little "White Lies", Marc Bonham as Detective Sergeant Troughton and Sean Conley-Widing as Detective Sergeant Porterhouse. Gordon Prow makes a brief appearance as the Newspaper Reporter while also handling the stage manager responsibilites with his wife Sandra. Don't miss this very clever and funny play. Evening shows at 7pm and matinees at 2pm. Opening night all seats are $12 and the remaining shows all seats are $15. For reservations you may go on-line at imagination-theater.org or call our Box Office between 10 and 2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Audition Notice - You Can't Take It With You
You Can't Take It With You
by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman
(Spring 2014 Show) If you are a planner, mark your calendar now :)
Audition dates are:
Saturday, October 5th - 2:30 -6:30 p.m.
Sunday, October 6th - 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for Call Backs
Comedy: 9 men, 7 women
At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder. In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys. The plot shows how Tony, attractive young son of the Kirbys, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening. The shock sustained by the Kirbys, who are invited to eat cheap food, shows Alice that marriage with Tony is out of the question. The Sycamores, however, though sympathetic to Alice, find it hard to realize her point of view. Meantime, Tony, who knows the Sycamores are right and his own people wrong, will not give her up, and in the end Mr. Kirby is converted to the happy madness of the Sycamores, particularly since he happens in during a visit by an ex-Grand Duchess, earning her living as a waitress. No mention has as yet been made of the strange activities of certain members of the household engaged in the manufacture of fireworks; nor of the printing press set up in the parlor; nor of Rheba the maid and her friend Donald; nor of Grandpa's interview with the tax collector when he tells him he doesn't believe in the income tax.

Additional Les Mis Audition Information
Are you thinking about auditioning for the show but don’t know where you would fit in?
It is only natural that many actors see themselves in the signature roles of Javert, Valjean, Marius, Cosette, Eponine, Enjolras, or Fantine. You may be thinking that if you don’t easily fit into one of these lead roles that there is not a place for you in the show. Here is information that may help you decide whether or not you wish to audition.
Remember that the show is a complete “sing through.” There is no spoken dialog. The cast of Les Miserables will be living in an alternate universe where singing is the primary means of vocal communication rather than speech. The show is not a typical musical where the characters speak between musical numbers as a lead-in to the musical numbers. In Les Miserables everyone the audience sees will be singing… advancing the plot lines in song with characterization, blocking, business, and movement. This type of staging will be challenging yet provides an opportunity to push creative and performance boundaries. Every role will be demanding and require full character development.
To be more specific…
1. Adult Male Ensemble Roles.
Many of the male roles will be doubled.
There are named roles including The Bishop, two Policemen, Grantaire (a rebel student who drinks often), Bamatabois (gentleman who attempts to purchase Fantine’s services), Fauchelevant (falls under a cart), Champmathieu (falsely arrested as Valjean), Brujon (a member of Thenardier’s gang), Claquesous (another Thenardier gang member), Montparnasse (younger member of Thenardier’s gang), Combeferre (a philosopher student), Feuilly (working-class member of the student revolt), Coufeyrac (a friendly student), Joly (a medical student), Jean Prouvaire (youngest member of the students), and Lesgles (second in command of the students).
Other male ensemble roles include the chain gang, unemployed workers, factory workers, members of Thenardier’s gang, street beggars, the rebellious students, citizens of Paris (seeking the “pleasures” of the night), customers at Thenardier’s Inn, and wedding guests.
2. Adult Female Ensemble Roles.
Many of the female roles will be doubled.
Roles include ladies of the night, street beggars, citizens of Paris, customers at Thenardier’s Inn, and wedding guests.
3. Teenage Girls.
Roles include street beggars, members of citizen families, helpers for the student rebels. Some will be ladies of the night.
4. Teenage Boys.
Roles include street beggars, members of citizen families, helpers for the student rebels.
5. Boys and Girls. Age 7-12. (Other than Young Cosette, Young Epoinine, and Garvroche)
Roles include street beggars, helpers for the student rebels, members of citizen families.
A few words about the “adult nature” of the show. Even though there are dark moments in the show that deal with abuse, violence, the hardships of life on the streets, abandonment, and despair, we will still present Les Miserables with our usual commitment to the physical and emotional safety and respect of the show’s participants. Violent and suggestive situations on stage will be handled with appropriate discretion.
You can see that there are many roles to be filled to be able to perform Les Miserables with the richness, and “reverence” that this legendary production requires.
It is quite probable that Les Miserables will only be available for performance by community theaters for a very short time before it is again restricted. For most of us, irrespective of our age, this is the only opportunity we are likely to have to be part of this epic show, the most successful musical of all time.
We suggest that you not limit your aspirations to the lead roles only and commit yourself to being part of the show- no matter what role you play. We are certain that come opening night you will be happy and grateful to be part of the cast of Les Miserables at Imagination Theater. We hope to see you at auditions!

Lanny Langston, Producer

Les Miserables at IT! in 2013
Les Misérables, the world’s longest-running musical, seen by over 60 million people in 42 countries and 21 languages around the globe is coming to Placerville’s Imagination Theater. In what is likely to be an unprecedented worldwide celebration of musical theater in 2013 due to the release of Les Miserables for community theater productions, Imagination Theater, now in its thirteenth year of productions, has been approved by the show’s owners, Music Theater International in New York City, to perform the show in November and December, 2013. Planning for the local production is already underway in earnest.
Due to the success of first-class productions in the West End in London, on Broadway, on tour and around the world, the opportunity to license and produce the full-length version of Les Misérables has not previously been available to professional and amateur groups. Based upon the novel by Victor Hugo, Cameron Mackintosh’s now legendary classic musical story sweeps its audience through an epic tale of passion and destruction in 19th century France. Les Misérables tells a story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption – having become a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit.
Ex-convict Jean Valjean is hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever. The score features classic songs including, “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Stars,” “Bring Him Home,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?,” “One Day More,” “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables,” “Master Of The House” and others.
Les Misérables has just been released as a major motion picture and theatrical productions have played in over 300 cities. Les Miserables has played over 47,000 professional performances giving a total audience figure of more than 60 million people worldwide. The show has won over 70 major theatre awards including an Olivier, a Tony and a Grammy.
Imagination Theater producer and co-owner, Lanny Langston plans for the local production to mimic the grand scale of the show itself. Placerville’s Les Miserables production will include a live orchestra, an accompanying choral group, a cast of 30 actors, singers, and dancers, a massive set, and a very experienced team of creative artists and designers. Dr. Jeff Nelson of Placerville is assembling an orchestra of local musicians. Award-winning lighting designer, David Patrick of Placerville, will be lighting the production. Dr. Dale Wallerstein of Placerville will be the vocal director.
Placerville’s Les Miserable will be directed local architect Peter Wolfe who will also provide the scenic design for the production. Wolfe has directed many shows at Imagination Theater including Beauty and the Beast, the Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Little Women, and most recently, The Little Princess.
Imagination Theater is actively seeking corporate sponsors for Les Miserables and for volunteers to assist with the production.
Auditions for the production will be held in April. Additional information about Les Miserables is available at the Imagination Theater Box Office, (530)642-0404.
