Sara Crewe, heiress to a large fortune, is enrolled at Miss Minchin’s Select Seminary for Young Ladies in Victorian England. At first her life is happy, but news arrives that her father has died and her fortune is lost. Sara is forced to become a servant and must live in a small attic room that seems no better than a prison cell. When a mysterious gentleman from India takes the house next door, some strange and curious things begin to happen.

We are excited about our fundraiser - August 17!

Imagination Theater will host its fifth annual fundraiser, “A Garden Affair,” on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the theater located on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. There will be a live and silent auction during the evening. Enjoy an evening of fine wines and food while bidding on items donated by local businesses and individuals. IT is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. Proceeds will benefit Imagination Theater and allow it to continue to provide quality, creative, live theater in the foothills.

This auction is also a great opportunity to shop early for holiday gifts. An all-inclusive weekend in Ashland Oregon, wine tours, dinners, massages, themed gift baskets, season theater tickets are just a few of the many items that await.

Auditions for Girl Talk (Soroptomist Club)

WHO: Female actors between the ages of 15 and 19 who feel comfortable relating to middle-school age girls.

WHAT: The short play, “Girls Talk,” that will tour to El Dorado County middle schools in the fall of 2012 as part of the Because You’re Special outreach program.

WHEN: Monday, May 14th at 4:00 p.m., or by appointment.

WHERE: 3461 Robin Lane, Suite 3, Cameron Park, 95682

REHEARSALS: Three rehearsals during June and July, then twice a week, beginning the week of August 6th, with a possible Saturday or two. There will be approximately 15 rehearsals total.

OTHER INFORMATION: Cast members must be available once a week (Thursday or Friday) for school day tours, four or five times during October, 2012. Performers receive a stipend for their work.

*Applicants will be asked to fill out a casting sheet with availability, so please bring calendars. A script will be provided for cold readings, and please wear comfortable clothing for movement.

This madcap British farce is the story of mischievous London cab driver, John Smith, who has two wives, two lives and a tight schedule to keep! Trouble brews when Smith is mugged and ends up in the hospital. When two addresses are discovered, the police investigate and Smith becomes hilariously entangled in his own hopeless attempts to explain himself. 
Lanny Langston is directing this clever, fast paced farce. Ensemble of 6 men and 2 women ages 21 and older. Show dates February 12—March 3, 2013.

42nd Street tells the story of a humble, naïve young actress named Peggy Sawyer who has come to audition for a new Broadway musical. Unfortunately, due to her nervousness, Peggy arrives to the audition late and misses her chance to join the chorus. Luckily, Peggy soon catches the eye of the famous director, Julian Marsh, and he gives Peggy her big break. However, the show's aging leading lady, Dorothy Brock, quickly grows to dislike Peggy. On opening night, Ms. Brock falls and breaks her ankle. Panic spreads through the company, as the show is doomed for closure, until it is suggested that Peggy take the roll. In only thirty-six hours, Peggy learns twenty-five pages, six songs and ten dance numbers and becomes a star.

Intermediate Acting Workshop Announced

Join us for an Intermediate Acting Workshop at the theater for ages 14-20. Students must have taken beginning acting classes or beginning acting workshop or have prior acting experience. The workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a final performance on Friday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m. Students must attend all days and perform in show on Friday evening. Scenes from selected plays will be covered--from dramas, comedies, classics, and Shakespeare! The workshop is $50 and we are offering a 20% sibling discount. Story Synopsis...A Little Princess

This engaging musical adaptation of the classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett opens with a happy Sara Crewe, heiress to a large fortune. Enrolled at Miss Minchin's seminary in Victorian England, her life takes a dramatic turn when she receives news of the loss of her father... and her fortune. Sara is forced by the greedy Minchin to become a servant and live in a wretched attic room. When a mysterious gentleman from India moves next door, curious things begin to happen. Sara even discovers that her fortune has been retrieved. A touching and beautiful score adds a magical touch to this enchanting show: "The Best Gift of All," "A Proper English Girl," "A Sunny Day in London," and of course the title song, “A Little Princess.”
